Shift At Midnight: All 3 Endings Guide
Shift At Midnight has three endings. One bill decides everything — and so does what you do to a certain golden retriever.
The three endings at a glance
| Ending | True Ending |
|---|---|

| Ending | Grave Decision |
| Requirement | The heavy choice — what happens when the bill can't be paid |
| Ending | Empty Home |
| Requirement | The loss ending — what's left behind when you fail |
True Ending
The True Ending requires paying a $250 bill at the end of the game — the money that saves your pet while sparing Clyde. The community's True Ending guide boils the requirements down to seven habits:
- Serve every customer — including doppelgangers, unless they have a bounty. You get paid either way.
- Force the Entity to retreat at the end of every shift.
- Collect every token and spin the wheel for $10 payouts.
- Clean everything: blood, body parts, trash, and bathroom messes.
- Restock shelves constantly.
- Complete every task the boss gives you.
- Keep the store rating maxed — it's a multiplier on customer spending.
Grave Decision
"Grave Decision" is what you get when the money isn't there at the bill — or when you make the ruthless call. It's the game's most discussed dark ending, and the one most players hit on a blind first run because $250 is far more than the game ever tells you to save.
Empty Home
"Empty Home" is the third outcome: quieter and colder than Grave Decision, defined by what's left behind. If you want all three, plan three runs — the ending is decided by late-game choices, not by a final dialogue option.
About Tofu
There's a golden retriever in this game. His name is Tofu, and the Steam community has one piece of advice that gets repeated with unusual intensity:
FAQ
Can I get all 3 endings in one playthrough?
No — the ending is decided by late-game choices and money, so plan for multiple runs (or save before the decision point).
Do endings affect achievements?
Yes — each ending is tied to its own achievement. See our achievements guide.
What happens if I can't afford the $250 bill?
You're locked out of the True Ending for that run — keep earning through every shift if you're aiming for it.
Should I really serve doppelgangers?
If you want the True Ending, yes — unless they have a bounty. It draws the Entity's attention, but the income is necessary.
